Of Hope and Teapots

The sun has come out and there is a little more cheer round our way. Eliska has been playing with the garden. 'I like being in dirt,' she said, in a rather serious manner.

It is good to see life breathe into the air.

Although there has been sunshine, there is still a nip in the air, but I am hoping it will warm up soon. I bought Eliska a top for the summer months.

I love the lace detail.

I am feeling in a sugary mood. The dresser has had a reshuffle and has a new candy pink teapot.

There is also a little jug to match.

What do you think of the pastels? I find them quite summery.

The teapot and jug are from Bombay Duck.

This is a little fairy I made a while ago.

I admire her spirit, she looks like a plucky little thing. I am weathering the storm of low spirits and feeling hopeful.

'Hope' is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all
Emily Dickinson

Thankyou for your comments on my last post. I am extremely grateful for them. There is something to be said for being different. There is also much to be said for solitary moments, the sense of calm and inner strength that they bring.  Yet we all need other people.

It made me feel much better to know that I wasn't the only one, that many of you feel like this too. I hope that you and I don't feel like this forever. Maybe there is something positive we can take from these feelings. We ought to celebrate the fact that we are different.

Hopefully, in time, we will find our place in the world and kindred spirits. Until then, thank heavens for the net and the beauty we find whereever we are.

This litte face doesn't worry what anybody else thinks. I want to be more like her. xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  1. Hello! I love your blog, Eliska is just lovely!! I have little girl, Mia, who is 8 in May and a baby boy who is almost 5 months. I loved her serious comment "I like being in dirt" fantastic! What beautiful photographs, I adore the top that you have bought for Eliska the lace is so pretty, just the sort of thing I like Mia to wear. Your dresser looks amazing, I too often change things around and bring out different to tea sets and china to change things a little. I currently have a Spring/Easter theme to my dresser, but am planning a "Jubilee" theme next month with my blue, red and white china and some Union Jack bunting! Gosh that little fairy is fantastic! I would love to have a go at making something similar, I love fairies. Looking forward to reading more of your lovely blog, Marina x

I just love being outside- even in the rain showers there was a sense of real beauty in the lush green park as the blossoms fell all around me!. Its good to spend time with nature- it makes you see the important things.
I love your dresser- your new tea pot and jug! lovely pastel colours!. Like the vintage utility wares from the 30's-40's. Love the fairy too!
Did Eliska find any fairies at the bottom of the garden>?

  3. I would like to be like Eliska too!! The teapot and jug are so pretty on your beautiful dresser. At our school nursery the children have a muddy area for playing in - it reminds me of making mud pies when I was their age!!
Thank you for writing a lovely post which brought a smile to my face again xx

I'm not sure I will ever find my place in the world, but whilst I continue the journey looking for my place, there is always hope. M x

  5. Such gorgeous photos of Eliska being free and enjoying the mud! :-)
I love the top you bought for her! If only they'd make adult versions of all the cute little girls' clothes there are around. I'd be over the moon!!!
Of course, I love the latest dresser re-shuffle too! And the jug and teapot are beautiful - the colours are so, so soft and pretty!
I too am SO thankful to the blog world for friends and kindred spirits!!!
    Hugs,
    Carly

  8. I love your photography, there's something very descriptive about the angles you use. Having 3 boys, I am always drawn to girls clothes, and wonder what kind of things I'd be buying - that pretty top would definitely
    be snapped up.
I wrote a very long email thanking you for the comments you recently left - they meant so much. Unfortunately, the emails didn't send, and I forgot to get back

I recently posted (Am I OK?) about my mood/feelings. I read your previous post, and though our situations are very different, I related to it a lot.

I'd love to sit in your gorgeous kitchen and share tales about past and present, there's a certain kind of loneliness I feel, even hen surrounded by friends and family. You're right - you are creative so making and writing, which you do incredibly well, are the best remedy.

Thanks again for the comments, they really lifted my spirits

  9. The top you bought Eliska is so pretty..I just love the floral pattern on it.
The mix of pastel colours on your dresser, looks lovely :)
It looks like Eliska is having a great time playing in the dirt. I remember my sister and I use to do that as children..we use to make fake dirt cakes (decorated with flower petals), and had an imaginary bakery :P
    Have a lovely weekend x

  11. How the flippin' heck have I missed this post? I thought you'd gone all quiet, nothing showed in my feed.
I LOVE that top you bought Eliska. She looks so cute in the mud (loving her boots too. Dressing little girls is one of life's pleasures in a mum, I believe. I really miss those first few years when they will wear every frothy pink tutu you can throw at them. Ahhhhhhh. Mine will still wear dresses and tights but it's more under sufferance I think these days, just to humour me.
    Hope you are all well.
