Just dotty about you, Madame Toadstool

We had anticipated the arrival of Madame Toadstool for some time...

Her forthright nature and common sense are renowned in all of Europe. So, her arrival was met with some solemnity by Eliska. 'She is MINE,' she declared. Yes, there was a trace of a pout there...

Life is lightened by friends, by sweet things and by kindness. Madame Toadstool, she of the exquisitely embroidered skirt and be toadstooled leg, was made by my lovely friend, Stepahnie at Millefeuilles. Her blog is a feast for the eyes. She makes wonderful knitted creations, doll clothing and beautiful dolls. The way that she displays these beauties, her way with words and the delightful gardens she visits are all a joy to see.

We thought Madame Toadstool may be tired after her travels, but she proceeded to demonstrate her  mischievous sense of fun...

We were also rather taken with her fabulous sense of style...

But I think we knew that she was really one of us when we spotted her here, hanging about near the biscuit tin...

She is a bookish sort of girl too...

And she knows when it is time relax...

Best friends are fast friends, isn't that always the way?

Oh Madame Toadstool, I love you already. I knew I would. I am just dotty about you. Speaking of dottiness, I aquired lots of dotty things for Valentine¨s day. Ok, that was a poor link...

I got the new pink spotty cups, the big ones and the teenier ones and some spotty bowls at the bottom of the dresser. so it seemed only right that I moved some more dotty items alongside them.

I also got a little bird...

I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's day.
Cheery bye for now folks. xxx

Primrose sees the snow

I had a visitor today. It was the first time that Primrose had ever seen the snow.

She was delighted to see such pretty houses dusted by snow.

As you can see, she was astonished and delighted by it's beauty.

Primrose also commented on the lovely lettering in the glass above this door.

Before you think how busy I have been, Primrose is a reworking of a previous doll I had made.
I had gone off her and she was just sitting in a cupboard. what do you think of her makeover? I wanted to make something a bit cuter, which is why I added her funny little nose.

She has a little pocket to carry supplies for her crafting activites, although if I'm honest,  she has done very little so far, just a lot of lying down and relaxing.

I have never done eyes this way before and I am pleased with them.

I am slightly obsessed with crumble at the moment, so I made another. As you can see from a few teeny charred bits, I am by no means a perfect cook. Domestic giddess, I am not! Still, it tasted good.

There was a musical event in the village recently. I was rather taken with their lovely traditional costumes.

Eliska made friends with a cute curly haired boy. She kept hugging him, it was very sweet. They threw some hilarious shapes together. I love how kids dance with natural joyful abandon.

I am going to relax now with some tea and a homemade biscuite, which is looking decidedly rustic.

Thanks for my Pinterest invites. I am now fully signed up and slightly addicted!

I hope all is well wherever you are. I was actualy delighted to finally get some snow. Our pipes froze up on monday and we now have no water, but our inlaws live locally, so we can go there for baths. Keep smiling, campers.

P.S. Eliska has been calling Primrose, 'Emily Yum.' I may have to rename her. xxx

Crumble Corner

Sometimes you just know...

You have to give in...

To cosy
 crumbly comfort food...

To be eaten
whilst enjoying cosy corners...

Knick knacks...

To dream of snow and a winter friend...

The weather has taken a turn,
                                                                         so be sure to carry
                                                                            your hip flask...

                                                                 Childhood memories have
                                                                  been shared with friends...

Let only the good memories remain...

There is a relief in finding things in
         common and friends in
            this faraway place...

                                                           Where dark fairytales and
                                                              candy colours collide...

Some time today it will be time to sit at the table
and sew and make...

    I may dream of this...

but I will be grateful for what I have...

Isn't it wonderful to have a warm home and know that you are loved? I need to make some things today. It is freeeeeeeeeeeeeezing outside here. I think it was minus fifteen this morning, but still no snow.  I seem to be blogging a lot at the moment, so hope you are not getting sick of me.

I had a lovely evening yesterday chatting with a friend here who is going to Australia on Sunday for one month! Some yummy rose wine was drunk.

I am listening to the radio and staying in as much as possible today! It is so cold out there it makes my face hurt! I am listening to Lauren Laverne interviewing Noel Fielding who I find very cute in his quirky way!

Have a cosy day if you can and keep warm, wherever you are.
