Favourite things

Hello all. I never seem to have much time these days, but I thought I would just drop in with some pics of my favourite things.

I am trying to spruce up my blog a bit. It is almost three years old now. I still love to write it. It seems to straighten my head out.

Right, back to the sewing an the lesson planning. x

Country Rabbit Abroad

The sun is out, I am a busy bee and Eliska is becoming a special little friend.

Candy coloured things are making me smile.

I am also delghted by my parcel from Kazzy. I feel like a little of the happy Country Rabbit spirit jas entered my home. The sweet card s from Kazzy.

Something really amazing also arrived in the parcel.

It was a beautiful Kazzy illustration.

Let's have a closer look at this beauty. Isn't it amazing?

We have enjoyed mostly sunny days, which has been good.

We spotted a food market in Brno.

We also attended 'Majova.' It is a celebration in our village. Some people find the costumes weird, but I love them. It is such a contrast to the UK. I think the young folks here think they're pretty cool in their fancyspangly threads.

Roman's little brother, who is not so little now, was  a 'starek'. Ths is normally a young man of 17 to 21 who plays host by handing at wine and dancing with people at the celebration. Something tells me they do a little drinking of their own behind the scenes. The young people play a big part in organising the celebration so I think it is a pretty good thing for them to be doing.

Here Petr is with Roman and Eliska.

I hear my homeland the UK is sunny too. Hurray!

Enjoy the precious sun. Love to you all. Also, thanks Kazzy. It really is precious to have a bit of Country Rabbit here in Moravia. xxx

Sweet things

It was Mother's day in the Czech Republic last Sunday. We had already celebrated the UK date, but for some parts of Europe it falls on this date. In honour of my second Mother's day, we had an outing to Mikulov, one of our favourite places. I was frequently heard to mutter, 'well, it is Mother's day....again!' whilst chortling to myself. We had already celebrated the UK date, hee hee.

Pink buildings, what more can you ask for?

This curvy blue house is my absolute favourite.

It is a lovely fairytale place full of higgledy piggledy buildings and little turrety bits.

I love Mikulov. If it was in the UK, it would be full of artsy carfty shops.

The sun managed to stay out for most of the day. It had rained the day before and we had had a cosy day in, but it was great to see the sun.

Eliska is now uncommonly fond of the word, 'no', which did prove tiring at times, the little monkey. she wanted to sit on most of the steps that she saw.

It is such a pretty place.

There are lots of cute painted houses and you see lots of the old lamps on the side of houses.

We found some sweet little shops.

There were also rather majestic looking buildings.

More beautiful lamps and gorgeous furniture here.

The sense of history there is amazing.

The dressing table had been languishing in our garage for about a year. Oh, the shame. I painted it pink and it never really looked right. Plus, even Roman, who never objects about the pink and grilyness of our home, didn't like it. I could have lived with it, but a bad paintjob niggles Roman. So, we had to strip it all over again and then sand it. My shoulder still aches!

I like the pretty curves and the little shelfy bit..

The pink was actually kind of endearing. Anyway, after much hard work and waiting for paint to dry then applying another coat, here it is. Can you see the cute screw on the lovely mirror?

It is now a tasteful off white.

It has sweet little handles.

It is a good mirror for seeing a full length view of yourself, although I am not sure if this is a good thing at the moment, after all the treats I have been eating. I am wearing one of my fave frock and cardi combos in the pic.

I think it could look good with some fairy lights around the mirror and some Cath K toiletries on the shelf.
A pretty dressing table and a cosy bed, after lurking in the garage for a year. Hurray!

Eliska and I celebrated with a tea party or a 'party tea', as I like to call them.

Too much sugar, but lots of fun! xxx

Magic potions in the post

I recently recieved some beautiful parcels from some marvellous ladies.

The tea cosy was made by Dev from The Fairyglade. I love it. The colors are lovely and so 'me'. I think it is marvellous and am slightly in awe of it. I have wanted one for ages, hurray!

She also sent me a confection of lace and loveliness. As she sent me some pegs too, I am hoping to make some little peg dollies with Eliska. I also want to make some cuffs from the lace as there is a lot of it and it is so pretty.

The little Cath K cloth and stationery were from Karen, a friend from flickr. She has started a blog called Kitty Loves Custard. Go and visit, it is lovely and so is she.

She also sent me these delectable ballerinas. I MUST make some cakes now so that I can pop them on top.

One of them has leapt onto my cake stand. Do you think it is a hint?

This lovely lady sent me some super cute tins too. The first, a beauty kit contained this adorable compact mirror.

The other tin contains lots of cute loveliness for Eliska.

So cute.

I love the little cat face. I am going to run off with the cat ring.

I have begun to make the lace cuffs. I am not sure if they need more sequins and beading or if I should leave them as they are. What do you think?

I was also delighted to see some Tunnock's cakes in the parcel from Karen and promptly had one with my tea.

I have just picked some flowers from the garden and popped them in my new little blue enamel jug. Now it is time to go to collect Eliska. The weather has turned a bit brr here, but I am feeling cheery regardless. I hope you all have a smashing Monday. x
